Night of Bridges- tonight!
Night of the Bridges was a Haganah operation on the night of the 16th to the 17th of June 1946 during the period of the British Mandate. The operation came in response to a British decision to retract from its promise to enable 100 thousand Jews to return to their homeland. Its aim was to destroy eight bridges linking Mandatory Palestine to the neighboring countries Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt, in order to suspend the transportation routes used by the British Army. Only one operation failed: the Palmach suffered 14 killed and 5 injured at the Nahal Akhziv bridges. The other operations succeeded without injuries
